EVIE, PARTS ONE, TWO & THREE
It’s always a challenging time for a young man when he takes those first difficult steps towards womanhood. Sadly, Sydney lass Evie Amati’s transition did not proceed smoothly.
It’s always a challenging time for a young man when he takes those first difficult steps towards womanhood. Sadly, Sydney lass Evie Amati’s transition did not proceed smoothly.
In 2017, Amati – formerly union organiser Karl – attacked three people with an axe. She later blamed this episode, in part, on her gender-altering medication:
Amati pleaded not guilty on mental health grounds and said she was not sound of mind due to a toxic mix of hormone medication, cannabis, amphetamines and alcohol.
The 27-year-old was subsequently relocated to a secure and nurturing all-female environment known as the Mary Wade Women's Correctional Centre. Alas, her difficulties continue:
Convicted axe attacker Evie Amati, who was jailed over an axe attack at a 7-Eleven, has been involved in a prison fight because other inmates want her moved to a male jail …
One of the reasons for this altercation was Amati was “de-transitioning” from female back to male.
Oh.
Elsewhere, don’t miss Rita Panahi and Caroline Marcus on the curious case of Jessica Yaniv:
It may sound fantastical, but the story of a transgender woman who has hauled more than a dozen women to the human rights tribunal for refusing to tackle her, erm, tackle could happen right here in Australia.
Let me explain. Jessica Yaniv is a Canadian activist who identifies as a woman, yet has male genitalia.
How in God’s name did we go from “bake my cake” to “wax my junk”?
