Raving radicalism and thugs mug democracy

THE nation was treated to a marathon display of democracy in action last week and an equally unedifying glimpse of the opposite — totalitarianism. In the Senate, debate on voting reforms saw democracy referred to on 52 occasions Tuesday, with the count rising to 71 on Wednesday. Debate raged through Thursday and before rising at 2.26pm on Friday the concept had been invoked a further 97 times. Meanwhile, in Adelaide, a group of students from Flinders University displayed their ignorant grasp of politics and reverence for the democratic progress by trashing the office of Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi. The students were ostensibly protesting at the legitimate concerns Senator Bernardi and 42 other Liberal senators had raised about federal funding for a grotesque social engineering program developed within La Trobe University’s Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society. They smashed a fence, turned over chairs, and scrawled crude graffito on the floor and office walls. The news photos showed the stereotypical unwashed mob urged on by a girl shrieking into a megaphone. Little different from the scenes of the rent-a-mobs which make their predictable appearances at anti-mining, pro-shark, anti-vaccination, and armpit-hair-weaving rallies (OK, that last was slipped in to see if you’re following closely). The Safe Schools program operated by La Trobe is a distortion of the original authentic anti-bullying program of the same name. Activists purporting to represent the alphabet soup of the gender confused have infused the realistic agenda with their own destructive Marxist theory-based propaganda targeting primary school-aged children. One website Safe Schools links to — Minus 18 — includes instructions about binding youthful breasts and tucking away penises to promote various gender identities. Until recently it included links to a sex shop and a gay bar. The Safe Schools Coalition Australia was set up as part of a wider Marxist strategy to radically change society. The public defence of the SSCA’s particular format has been that it’s necessary to stop bullying and reduce self-harm among LGBTI students and students claiming various sexual identities. However, it has also been referenced in Marxist analysis of how the ruling capitalist class imposed conventional notions of male and female, sex, marriage and natural family on society to “break the spirits of ordinary people”. Remind me of the number of votes the Marxists received in any election in Australia. Federal LNP MP George Christensen used parliamentary privilege on Tuesday to refer to excerpts from an article written by Professor Gary Dowsett, the current deputy director of the La Trobe centre, in which he argued that paedophilia should be part of the homosexual movement and that it must be legally recognised and depicted as part of a wider sexual liberation. In the journal Gay Information, Professor Dowsett wrote: “How different then is that gentle, tentative sexuality between parent and child from the love of a paedophile and his or her lover? That kind of love, warmth, support and nurture is an important part of the paedophilic relationship.” A spokesman for La Trobe said Professor Dowsett has not been a supervisor or team member of the Safe School program, or an investigator and/or co-author of the research projects that underpin that program. However Professor Dowsett’s work is cited by a number of researchers and he was most influential in installing the Safe School program in Victoria as a member of the Victorian government’s ministerial advisory committee on homosexual health. The Safe Schools program is to be overhauled by the federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham, who announced sweeping changes that will give parents the right to veto the controversial gender and sexuality lessons. La Trobe’s activist involvement in sex education programs in schools was again highlighted yesterday when The Australian newspaper revealed that its research projects were being driven by material developed by homosexual and lesbian groups which significantly overstated the rates of same-sex attraction among young people and made questionable claims about the degree of homophobia at schools. With the same mulish stupidity that saw the Victorian Andrews Labor government reject the $1.1. billion East West Link road funding, Victorian Education Minister James Merlino declared that Victoria would pay for its own Safe Schools program — presumably with all the nasty bits still in place. Cutting parents out of the equation is part of the Marxist agenda and, it would seem, part of the Andrews government’s plan, also. This makes a total mockery of the democratic notions of inclusion, which brings us back to the Senate’s voting reform legislation. When the amendment was first introduced on Tuesday, Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party Senator Ricky Muir attempted to delay the vote by moving to suspend standing orders to bring on a Senate vote on the Australian Building and Construction Commission. Senator Muir said his attempt to derail the voting reform Bill was “about democracy.” “These reforms are trying to quash the voice of the 0.51 per cent of people who demanded that I represent them.” Those 0.51 per cent may be heard, legitimately, but they don’t deserve their own senator, any more than the raving radicals who designed the Safe Schools Coalition deserve funding. That’s not how democracy works.
