Do as I say not as I do: Rudd

Kevin Rudd is a past master of the Do As I Say, Not As I Do school of politics. He made what passes for his (pitifully thin) reputation in Federal politics on the back of the inquiry into the AWB and castigated Prime Minister John Howard and Foreign Minister Alexander Downer for not being intimately aware of the detail of activities which took place within a private organisation. Yet, when it came to his own plans to visit Vietnam to stage a fake Anzac Day Dawn Service, he knew nothing. It occurred within his inner office and he claims he was not party to the idea. Right. And he shouted abuse at the Editor who dared raise the issue, just as he screamed at the female journalist who raised very real doubts about his (flawed) memories of the events that took place after the death of his father. But when his wife's company was revealed to have stripped key award conditions from employees, Rudd went to water. While it is admirable that Therese Rein has made multi-millions from the Howard government's privatisation of employment services, and it is admirable that Rudd separates himself from her businesses, he must explain her activities now. She is beginning to behave like a trade union boss.
