Miranda Live: Shorten needs to stick to the middle

FORMER Labor Party Leader Mark Latham has advised successor Bill Shorten to stop leaning to the left and return to the political middle ground — lest he alienate voters.

FORMER Labor Party Leader Mark Latham has advised successor Bill Shorten to stop leaning to the left and return to the political middle ground, lest he alienate voters.

Mr Latham made the comment on Miranda Devine’s online radio show Miranda Live, saying Mr Shorten risked alienating voters and that he should take a leaf from US President Donald Trump’s book when it came to reaching out to businesses and Middle Australia.

The former Labor leader also couldn’t resist taking a swipe at Mr Shorten’s deputy, saying Tanya Plibersek didn’t appear to be carrying a “marshall’s baton”.
