Shangri-La Gardens has made a call out for war memorabilia ahead of its Century of Heroes Gala

A CALL has gone out for memorabilia such as war photographs for a display to mark the 100th anniversary of Anzac Day.

Wynnum function centre, Shangri-La Gardens, and Wynnum-Manly Rotary Club will stage a Century of Heroes Gala event on Friday, April 17.

The fundraiser at the Shangri-La Gardens will showcase military items from a variety of eras ranging from pictures and postcards to a WWII jeep and army helmets.

Shangri-La general manager Valmae Richardson said she wanted residents to get involved in the 100th ann­iversary of Anzac Day.

“We’re getting a loan of displays from the Enoggera Barracks Museum,” she said.

“We also want things from our local area.”

Tickets are $55, with proceeds going to Mates4Mates. It starts at 6.30pm.
