THE fascinating personal stories of 25 Queensland soldiers will be told in a new exhibition by the State Library of Queensland.
Distant Lines: Queensland Voices of the First World War will use letters, diaries, photographs, belongings and digital stories to create what content curator Robyn Hamilton describes as a uniquely Queensland perspective on the war.
“The 25 people we’ve chosen came from all over the state, with a variety of ranks in order to give a very fleshed out version of the events,” she said.
Ms Hamilton said the exhibition allowed people to immerse themselves in the daily reality of war and reflect on their own story.
“I hope people will get a better understanding of the repercussions of the war and how it still affects us today,” she said.
Distant Lines is a free exhibition which runs until November 15. It is split between the State Library and Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery.
