The 31-year-old explained she knew something was off when her partner, Ryan Gallagher, was leaving for work on Sunday morning and the garage door was already open.
Seebohm believes the incident unfolded sometime between 5:30 – 6:30am when the couple were sound asleep in bed.
The video was posted to the social media platform on Monday with Seebohm stating she hadn’t slept very well following the ordeal.
“I didn’t sleep great last night. Very, very tired,” she said in the video.
“We had someone break in to our garage yesterday morning.
“So I didn’t hear anything. But we first noticed when Ryan woke up and was heading to work at 9.30 that the garage door was left open.”
Thankfully the intruders weren’t able to gain access to the main portion of the house, they did however break into the couple’s cars and made off with the gold medallist’s wallet which contained her credit cards.
“They couldn’t get into the house. But somehow, they did manage to get into all of our cars. Not sure how, we believe that they might have opened the garage door from Ryan’s car who has a buzzer in his car,” she said.
“All of our keys were inside. So luckily, they couldn’t steal any of the cars. But they did steal, like, my wallet, my credit cards. Basically everything in my wallet. And they rummaged through the cars.”
The couple raised the incident with police and are now waiting for an investigation into the matter in the hopes of finding the perpetrators.
“(It was) very very scary waking up to that on a Sunday morning. And just didn’t sleep good last night but waiting for the police to come out and hopefully get some fingerprints and we might know who did this or we might not so fingers crossed,” she said.
The incident comes only months after the couple announced their engagement following months of speculation.
Gallagher, who gained notoriety through reality TV show Married At First Sight, took the Brisbane swimmer to his farm outside Goulburn, NSW, where he proposed alongside a dam.
“When you know, you know … I thought it was the right spot to do it – she loves the horses and she often swims in the dam,” he told Woman’s Day.
“I did get nervous though. The [ring] box was making a bit of a bulge in my pocket. So either she knew I was proposing or she just thought I was happy to see her.”
Rumours about the pair have swirled since December since Seebohm was first spotted with a diamond ring on her finger during a night out in Melbourne.
The three-time Olympic champion met the Married At First Sight star on Channel 10 reality show The Challenge Australia.
