Anthony Albanese has been  sworn in as Australia's 31st prime minister. But what does it mean for you? Here’s what he’s pledged to do in government.

Labor supports increasing the minimum wage, making childcare more accessible, and bringing down power bills to help alleviate cost of living pressures.

Minimum wage rise and cost of living relief

Labor has vowed to lead a national push to increase women's pay, and strengthen the Fair Work Commission's capacity to address the gender wage gap in low-paid, female-dominated industries.

Closing the gender gap

Labor has promised to slash emissions by 43 per cent on 2005 levels by 2030, provide around $20 billion for upgrades to Australia's transmission grid, and put an extra $194.5 million into Great Barrier Reef protection programs.

Accelerate climate change action

Up to 10,000 families and singles earning under $90,000 a year will be assisted to buy a home under Labor’s equity scheme, which will cover up to 40 per cent of the cost of their mortgage.

Help for people to buy homes

Labor will legislate a national anti-corruption commission by the end of this year, saying it will be independent from government and not take directives from politicians about how it operates.

NDIS review

Mr Albanese says Labor's six-point NDIS plan "puts people with disability at the centre of the scheme", with the ALP set to review the program and develop a national autism strategy.

In a $2.5 billion sector overhaul, Labor has promised to crack down on dodgy residential aged care providers, by implementing tough penalties for systematic abuse and neglect.

Aged care reform

Mr Albanese says he would like to hold a referendum on constitutional recognition of First Nations people, with a Voice to Parliament, in his first term of government.

Multinationals to pay their fair share of tax

Multinationals will face a crackdown on loopholes allowing them to avoid paying tax, with Labor saying it supports the OECD plan for a global 15 per cent minimum tax on these companies but will consult with the industry.
