Not only is Great Keppel a top spot for a low-key family holiday on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, but you can snorkel directly off the shore.

The best snorkelling is at Shelving Beach, Monkey Point and Clam Bay.

While the prospect of swimming is exciting, parents and guardians should refresh themselves on basic water safety before diving into summer fun.
