Blues centre headaches after turbo injury

A season-ending shoulder injury to Sea Eagles star Tom Trbojevic has shone the spotlight on the Blues centre spots once again.
The Dally M Medallist suffered a dislocation in his side’s loss to the Eels on May 20, joining Latrell Mitchell in the NSW casualty ward.
The injuries mean Blues coach Fittler will have to unveil a brand-new centre pairing to take on the Maroons on June 8.
Mitchell and Trbojevic were two of the Blues standout players in their 2021 win, with the Manly gun winning the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the series.
Many names have been brought up in the selection conversation, and Fittler was asked about Broncos gun Kotoni Staggs and Panthers star Stephen Crichton on Channel 9.
Fittler said whoever he picks for Game I will have a massive job ahead of them.
If you think of some of the Queensland centres: Dane Gagai, Val Holmes. Between them they’ve played 29 Origins... there’s a good chance whoever we do pick they might be on debut.

Siosifa Talakai, Zac Lomax, Matt Burton and Campbell Graham are other players in contention for the number three and four jersey.
Trbojevic played a crucial role for the Blues last season, floating around the field to find gaps in the Queensland defence.
Fittler conceded that whoever filled Trbojevic’s shoes wouldn’t be able to be deployed in that way, forcing the Blues to adopt a different gameplan for the 2022 series.
From a coaching point of view, we’re going to have to play a bit different, which will really test the coaching staff.
