New witnesses and possible suspects have emerged in some of Australia’s most enduring cold cases.

The latest season of The Missing Australia’s has uncovered new leads in at least one case, and new witnesses in another.

A third case will see further searches conducted in the coming weeks after a possible breakthrough emerged after The Missing Australia’s investigations.

Podcast host Meni Caroutas said the Warren Meyer case that was examined in Episode 3: Without a Trace revealed a search team with a cadaver dog detected something in the bushland where Mr Meyer disappeared while hiking.

Mr Meyer vanished after setting out for a 10km trek at the base of the Yarra Ranges National Park in Victoria on March 23, 2008.

Caroutas said the cadaver dog and search team would return to the site “in the next week or two”.

“They’re going out there again for a larger dig and search,” Caroutas said.

Episode five of the podcast Vanishing Shadows dealt with the disappearance of 12-year-old Adelaide girl Rhianna Barreau in October 1992.

She was last seen at her home in suburban Morphett Vale.

“Two listeners have contacted me nominating persons of interest. One of the persons of interest is a convicted rapist and serial killer,” Caroutas said.

Another “very legitimate and credible” tip came from someone who has “nominated someone”, a separate person of interest.

“What’s incredible about this is this person who has been nominated lived in Morphett Vale where she went missing from two kilometres away,” Caroutas said.

The last episode in this year’s series Snatched at the Footy investigated the abduction of four-year-old Kirste Gordon, and Joanne Ratcliffe, 11, from the Adelaide Oval in August 1973.

The episode explores how documents – which detail allegations pedophile Stanley Arthur Hart abducted the girls from the Adelaide Oval – came to light.

“A new witness has contacted me say that they were sexually abused by our prime suspect, Stanley Arthur Hart when they were a child,” Caroutas said.
