Police declared a crime scene at a Burpengary East home after a woman was allegedly shot there this afternoon.
A Queensland Police spokesman said emergency services were called to the incident shortly after 1pm.
Moreton Police Inspector Craig White said that at about 1pm two men have entered a home at Talbot Way, Burpengary East.
A Curra woman, aged 21, was shot in the arm and has been taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Insp White said witnesses saw two men flee the scene.
“Police are in the area conducting extensive foot, vehicle and aerial patrols for the men,” he said.
Police were this afternoon searching bins in a nearby park as a weapon is yet to be found and remain at the scene.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said paramedics and a critical care unit were called to a home.
She said the woman had sustained a “significant arm injury” and had been taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Just one patient was treated by paramedics.
Insp White said there were six other people in the home at the time, including two children.
He said it was unknown if the victim knew the alleged offenders but did not believe it to be a random attack.
“However, if a member of the public notices anything suspicious or out of place in the local area, please do not approach and call police immediately,” he said.
