A little boy has been reunited with the police officers who saved his life after he was carried unresponsive into a Rockhampton police station last month.
Lucas was rushed into the Gracemere Police Station at 10-weeks old unresponsive, turning blue and not breathing.
Officers, including Senior Constable Adrian Studholme and Sergeant Paul James, began resuscitating the young boy on the counter while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
The officers managed to resuscitate Lucas with CPR before paramedics arrived to take over.
In the video, officers can be seen performing CPR for about 30 seconds and talking to the baby as he struggles for breath.
After a few seconds, the baby can be heard gasping for air and colour begins to return to his face.
“Hey cheeky! Look at you!” One of the officers is heard saying on the camera after Lucas began breathing again.
He was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital and later flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital for specialist treatment.
Senior Constable Adrian Studholme gifted Lucas a plush toy dog with a police vest on Wednesday to celebrate the boy’s health.
“The little fella has touched all of us on that September morning,” he said.
“That’s something that we’ll remember and it will be a story for many moons to come.”
Lucas’ mother said he was well and undergoing tests to make sure there were no underlying health conditions that caused the episode.
