A LOGAN teenager has been charged after he allegedly attempted to steal a car at knifepoint on the Gold Coast last night.

The 15-year-old, from Edens Landing, allegedly confronted a 40-year-old man at a shopping centre at Millaroo Drive in Helensvale demanding the keys to his car.

The man had parked his 2020 BMW X6 near an ATM at the around 6.30pm to deposit cash.

He returned to find a group of youths around his car.

The group scattered, but one boy remained and allegedly demanded the man’s keys.

The man refused, at which time police allege the boy produced a knife.

The man ran, but fell, injuring his shoulder and his hand.

The boy fled the scene but was located by police at a nearby bus stop.

The teenager has been charged with attempted armed robbery, while the 40-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment last night.
