A staff member from Wilston’s St Columba’s Primary School is being investigated by police over what the school has referred to as an “alleged incident”.
Parents were sent a letter tonight informing them of an ongoing police investigation involving the staff member, although the letter did not disclose the nature of the investigation.
“I write to inform you that our school recently became aware of an alleged incident involving one of our staff members,” the letter, from the school principal, said.
“This matter is now the subject of an ongoing police investigation and in support of this, our school is continuing to assist police in every way we can.”
Parents were told that counselling support would be available for staff and students and that they could call the school if they had any concerns.
“I understand this information might be distressing to you and confusing,” the letter said.
“If you have any concerns for your children, or about this matter, I invite you to contact me so I can offer appropriate support.”
It is understood parents who contacted the school after receiving the letter were told their children were not “at risk”.
Queensland Police Service has been contacted for comment.
