Public takes justice into their own hands, punches convicted sex offender

VIDEO has emerged of convicted sex offender Shannon Norgate being punched in the head at a Brisbane area transit centre today.

Norgate, who was jailed for 406 days after he impersonated a security guard and lured children into a school toilet where he sexually abused them, was up until Wednesday living close to Yeronga State Primary School on Brisbane’s southside.

Police visited him on Wednesday night and requested he move on.

He has today been spotted in Ipswich where it’s thought he is set to reside with a female friend.

In a video obtained by The Courier-Mail, Norgate can be seen waiting at a transit centre with a woman before a man walks up to him, throws a cup in his face and punches him in the head.

The man hurled abuse at Norgate before walking away, with another man heard yelling in the background.

Social media users praised the vigilantism, one saying “he deserves everything that comes to him”.

“Hope he goes back to jail where he should stay, these kids he molested will suffer the rest of their lives, so he should also,” one woman wrote.

Norgate is on a three-year probation period. It’s understood he is allowed to live near schools and child care centres, despite the young age of his victims.

When he was asked to vacate from within the proximity of Yeronga State School, Norgate told Channel 9 he would continue to cause strife no matter where he lived.

“Let me put it this way, everyone run and hide, run and hide, because I‘m coming to get you all,” he said

One social media user said he doubted whether Norgate would be able to settle, given his now highly public profile.

“He‘s going to be always on the move … He hasn’t got much money and he’s always got to move different places every five minutes. You dumb ass, stay away from Ipswich you little child pedo.”

Many pictures have emerged on social media dictating Norgate’s movements and alerting members of the public of his whereabouts.

Norgate was this morning at Police Headquarters in Roma Street, where it’s thought he was alerting police to his change of address.
