Police are searching for a man who is alleged to be using online dating apps to meet women before stealing their credit cards.

An appeal to locate Jon Dennis Gurney has been issued after a number of reports of assault, robbery, fraud and unlawful use of a motor vehicle have been linked to the 31-year-old between Rockhampton and Brisbane since July.

He was last seen in Agnes Waters on Friday morning believed to be leaving on a bus, as an arrest warrant has been issued for the man relating to failure to appear in court on a matter from 2019.

A number of police reports suggest the man has been allegedly targeting women through social media where he stays with them for a number of days before stealing and leaving.

He has been allegedly detected using the women’s credit cards at multiple places.

Mr Gurley has been described as caucasian, around 180cm tall with a muscular build.

The 31-year-old has blue eyes, brown hair and tattoos on his neck, shoulders, arms and hand.

Police are urging anyone who may see the man not to approach him but to contact triple-0 (000) immediately or call Policelink on 131 444 with information regarding his previous whereabouts.
