A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the high-set timber house was two storeys high, about 20x30 metres and was “well engulfed”.
Paramedics were also on scene and treated the five people.
None of them required transport to hospital but paramedics planned to remain on standby until the fire was under control.
