THE man murdered at his Wynnum home on Wednesday has been identified as 45-year-old Paul Morrow.
Mr Morrow’s body was found by a friend visiting his Ronald St unit at about midday on January 6, while police immediately launched a homicide investigation after attending the scene.
According to Queensland Police Service Detective Inspector Steve Hollands, detectives believe Mr Morrow was killed between 1am and midday on Wednesday, however said further testing was needed to determine the precise time of his death.
“Until we get further examinations we won’t be able to pinpoint the time,” Det Insp Hollands said.
He said Mr Morrow’s friend contacted another person after making the horror discovery, with the pair later calling triple-0.
“A man discovered the body and contacted another member of his family and they both inspected the address and found that the man was deceased,” Det Insp Hollands said.
“My understanding is he did live alone.”
Mr Morrow, whose body was found in the bedroom, had lived in his unit at the small complex on his quiet suburban street since 2005.
His family are also believed to live locally.
One woman took to a Wynnum community Facebook page to remember Mr Morrow, saying: “he was a lovely bloke,” and that he was her “uncle by choice.”
Police currently have no persons of interest in relation to Mr Morrow’s death, while a motive has not yet been determined.
However Det Insp Hollands on Wednesday said robbery did not appear to have been a motive.
He also confirmed on Wednesday that police had seized some possessions from the home, however would not go into further detail about what they were or how they are linked to the horror incident.
“We do have items of interest that we have located at the address however I can’t comment on what those items are at this stage,” he said.
“I’ve got no further details in relation to his injuries …
“There’s no indication as to whether drugs or alcohol have contributed to the incident.”
Detectives from the Bayside Criminal Investigation Branch as well as homicide detectives, forensic specialists and inelegance officers continue to investigate the case.
Police are asking that anyone who saw or heard anything unusual on the evening of January 5, or the morning of January 6 to contact them.
They would also like to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage or CCTV.
