Four men have died as a result of crashes in a horror weekend on Queensland roads.
Father-of-two Adam Lumsden, of Warner, died last night about 10.30 when his car crashed into a tree on Telegraph Rd, Bracken Ridge, in Brisbane’s northeast.
It is believed he was driving home from playing hockey when the incident occurred.
Mr Lumsden’s father, who asked not to be named, said the 37-year-old was a dedicated father to his children aged 5 and 1, and had “a beautiful house and a good job” as a carpenter.
Mr Lumsden’s car veered off the road and into a front yard before flipping and hitting a tree.
In a separate incident, two men died and a third was injured after the car they were travelling in rolled in a single vehicle accident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident happened at 4.37am on the Bunya Highway at Taabinga, south of Kingaroy.
As a result of the crash a 34-year-old man and 39-year-old man died from their injuries.
A 24-year-old male passenger was transported to Kingaroy Hospital and was subsequently transferred to Brisbane via helicopter for treatment of his injuries.
In another incident a man was hit by a car while waiting at a bus stop in Sunnybank Hills on Sunday morning.
Police say the man suffered ‘life-threatening’ injuries after a green sedan, travelling south on Pinelands Road, left the road and hit the 53-year-old man.
The man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The 20-year-old man who was the driver of the car wasn’t injured and the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Meanwhile, a man and woman were seriously injured when two cars collided head on early on Sunday morning.
Just after 1am a Holden Commodore was travelling along Bumstead Rd, Crestmead, when it collided with a Toyota RAV4.
The driver of the Commodore, a 21-year-old man, was hospitalised with serious injuries.
The 18-year-old woman driving the Toyota was critically injured in the crash.
The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating both crashes and are appealing for anyone with relevant information to come forward.
The incidents come after police on Friday appealed to drivers to take extra care on the roads leading up to Australia Day.
And in far north Queensland, a 49-year-old man critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in Barron on Friday afternoon has died as a result of his injuries.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
