A man has died after his car crashed head on with a truck on a rural highway in the state’s north in the early hours of this morning.

A man has died after his car collided with a truck west of Mackay early on Friday morning.
Paramedics were called to the Peak Downs Highway at Fiery Creek near Nebo at 1.40am where the 35-year-old Clermont man had suffered critical injuries.
Initial police investigations suggest that a grey dual cab ute was travelling west on the road when it collided head on with a truck travelling in the opposite direction.
He died at the scene of the crash.
The truck driver, a 42-year-old man from Mirani sustained minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
