A man accused of unlawfully killing chickens has been told he is not allowed to own any birds by a court.
Christopher Larry Goncalves De Sousa’s matter was briefly mentioned in Cleveland Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
Defence lawyer Tania Lacy asked for an adjournment to seek a mental health assessment.
Mr De Sousa is charged with unlawful killing and trespass on June 22.
Police allege the 35-year-old entered a Thornlands property and killed eight chickens in their coop.
Under his bail conditions, Mr De Sousa is not allowed to possess any birds.
Magistrate Deborah Vasta adjourned the case to September 1.
