ONE of Jeffrey Epstein’s former “sex slaves” says she’s been slapped with a gag order by her lawyers over the latest legal move to get Prince Andrew to testify about his links to billionaire paedophile.

Cairns mum Virginia Giuffre, 36, who claims she was trafficked for underage sex by Epstein, said she applauded efforts to get the United Kingdom to hand over the Prince to be quizzed about the late disgraced financier.

Latest reports claim United States prosecutors filed a “mutual legal assistance” request to the UK Home Office, and bypassed Buckingham Palace, to force the Duke of York to testify, according to the The Sun.

“We have to tread very carefully,’’ Mrs Giuffre, now a charity worker, exclusively told The Courier-Mail on Monday.

“This is not a game. The United States Department of Justice has obviously made a big step forward in the case.

“I’m excited. I feel like I’m not sliding down the mountain any more.

“But my lawyers have put me on a gag order and asked I not say or do anything that might affect the work of the federal prosecutors.

“It’s like driving at night with headlights, you can only see what’s in front of you.”

Her high-profile US lawyer David Boies, who represents five Epstein victims, was expected to make a statement in coming days, she said.

If approved by the British government, the Duke of York, 60, may be compelled to give evidence under oath as a witness if he refused to cooperate.

“It’s a huge statement of intent from the US and it moves Andrew into the realms of a criminal investigation. It’s also frankly a diplomatic nightmare,” a source told The Sun.

“The DOJ does not make a request of this nature lightly, especially one involving a senior member of the British royal family. It puts the UK government in a very difficult position – and the Duke of York even more so.”

Mrs Giuffre has long claimed Epstein used her as an underage “sex slave” and forced her to have sex with Prince Andrew three times, starting when she was 17 in 2001.

Prince Andrew has vehemently denied the claims.

He was stood down from royal duties six months ago after he appeared in a train-wreck BBC interview trying to justify his relationship with Epstein.
