Hikers spend night lost on Scenic Rim mountain
A search and rescue operation is under way after a group of hikers became lost on a Scenic Rim mountain after they set off for an adventure around 6pm yesterday.

A group of hikers have spent the night out in the elements, after they set off for a hike late yesterday evening.
The four Japanese nationals took to Mt Barney in Queensland’s Scenic Rim region about 6pm yesterday.
They made contact with police after becoming lost following sunset on one of the national park’s walking trials.
According to police, the group maintained frequent contact with authorities by telephone overnight, however were unable to find their way back down in the dark, while authorities advised them to stay where they were.
Police and SES workers resumed their search for the group at first light this morning and expect to reach the hikers shortly.
