Five Teens Take Luxury Car on Joyride Through Brisbane

Four teens on a joy ride in an allegedly stolen luxury car have been charged by Gold Coast police overnight, after officers were forced to deploy a tyre deflation and call in PolAir for assistance.

Police allege the group of four youths were travelling in an Audi, stolen on February 15 from a Broadbeach Waters home.

According to police, at about 10.50pm yesterday, an unmarked police vehicle spotted the stolen luxury car on Oceanic Drive at Mermaid Waters.
Inside the vehicle was a 16-year-old female who was allegedly driving the car, and her three passengers – a 17-year-old girl, and two boys aged 13 and 14.

Using the covert vehicle to their advantage, officers were able to safely follow the Audi while PolAir tracked the car to Coomera.

A QPS statement said police made no attempt to intercept the vehicle, and instead, officers deployed a tyre deflation device on Entertainment Drive at Oxenford, which successfully brought the vehicle to a stop.

Police allege as the car pulled off road, the young offenders tried to flee before police were able to arrest the group.

All four teens were charged with unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, while the three passengers were also charged with one count each of obstructing police.

The driver, who was not charged with obstructing police, was charged with driving without a license.

The group will face Children’s Court in the coming days.
