Carjack horror: Elderly man dragged 10m by car
An 80-year-old man has sustained serious head injuries after he was dragged 10 metres by a car that was allegedly stolen from outside a popular Gold Coast venue.

An elderly man was dragged approximately 10-metres by his car and left with serious injuries after another man allegedly stole his vehicle in what police claim was a violent and random robbery on the Gold Coast overnight.
The 80-year-old man driving his Toyota Rav-4 pulled into the Southport Workers Club on Scarborough St in Southport just after 6pm when police allege a 56-year-old man pulled the elderly man from the car.
In an attempt to stop the alleged car thief, it’s understood the 80-year-old man grabbed onto the car.
The 56-year-old man, however, did not stop the vehicle and dragged the elderly man for approximately 10 metres, police will allege.
About two hours after the terrifying incident, the man and the Rav-4 were located by police on Fig Tree Lane, approximately a three minute drive from the Workers Club.
According to a police spokeswoman, the car had just minutes beforehand been involved in a traffic crash at a nearby street.
It’s alleged the man fled the scene in the car before parking at Fig Tree Lane where police were able to take him into custody.
David Leslie Jolley will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, charged with one count of robbery with violence, possessing a relevant substance, possessing utensil and disqualified driving.
The elderly man was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a non-life threatening but a serious head injury.
He also sustained abrasive cuts to his body as a result of being dragged by the car.
