Businessman Anthony Brady remembered as ‘kind fellow’ by former colleagues from Brisbane grocery store
A Brisbane businessman, whose body was found in a Cairns hotel last week, has been remembered as “a kind fellow” by friends and former colleagues at a grocery store. A female sex worker has been charged with his death.

A Brisbane businessman who was found dead in a Cairns hotel on Friday after he failed to return home, has been remembered by his former colleagues as “a kind fellow” who ”always had an ear” for his mates.
Anthony Brady, 52, was found dead inside a hotel room at the The Sunshine Tower Hotel on Sheridan Street on Friday.
Madeleine Lewin, a 32-year-old sex worker from Cairns, has been charged with manslaughter in relation to Mr Brady’s death.
It’s alleged Mr Brady, a petrol station auditor, was in Cairns on business and died under what police have described as “suspicious circumstances”.
Mr Brady’s friends, many of whom he worked with at a Buranda grocery store in Brisbane several years ago, have taken to social media to remember their former manager and pass on their condolences to his grieving wife and family.
One former colleague, who worked with Mr Brady at the grocery store, wrote: “RIP Tony. Such sad news for your family to endure. You were a great guy to work with and may the Lord give your family strength to get thru (sic) this.”
Another sent their condolences to Mr Brady’s wife.
“Sending love and blessings to your beautiful wife and family at this devastating time.”
Other posts on Facebook included one from a Toowoomba woman, who appeared to know Mr Brady from several years ago.
“Rest in peace Tony. You will be missed. Such a kind fellow, always had an ear for friends and many of drinks shared. Sending love to your family and friends.”
On the weekend Mr Brady’s cousin, Ian Brady, spoke out on behalf of the devastated family, describing him as a “great cousin”.
“All I will say is he was a great cousin, a loyal and loving husband and a man who loved his job,” he said.
Lewin’s solicitor fronted Cairns Magistrate Court on Monday, where they asked for the matter to be adjourned until Tuesday.
Lewin’s legal counsel await a decision from the parole board regarding the suspension of her parole in relation to another matter.
Detective Acting Inspector Jason Smith told media on Monday a post mortem was being carried out on Mr Brady.
He believed it would reveal more information surrounding the circumstances of Mr Brady‘s death.
