Animal rescue vehicle carrying magpie stolen in Brisbane’s South

The hunt is on for an animal rescue ute that, in a sickening move, was stolen while it was transporting a wild animal that was onroute to being released.

The hunt is on a for a While Hilux Rugged with 3XM canopy and yellow paddle board on top with the registration HAM69 after it was stolen from a South Brisbane address this afternoon.

The vehicle, believed to belong to Pelican and Seabird Rescue Inc., was reportedly carrying a magpie that was set for release.

The car was spotted on Wynnum Road in Tingalpa this afternoon, with it believed to be headed north through North Lakes Saturday evening.

Police are currently investigating.
