28 police cars stop Boondall fuel drive-off man

A huge police chase that was kicked off on one side of Brisbane after a fuel-drive off, has ended on the other side of town with a crash between two police vehicles. The chase involved 28 police cars.

A POLICE chase that began after a fuel drive-off in Logan and ended in North Brisbane, has ended with two police cars crashing into each other, and four officers taken to hospital overnight.

The chase occurred around 10:30pm on Friday night, when Police spotted a red Mitsubishi lancer driving along Kingston Road which had allegedly been involved in a number of petrol station drive off offences, the most recent occurring that night.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it allegedly sped off, starting the nearly two-hour long chase

It took 28 police cars and the PolAir helicopter to track the vehicle from Waterford West through Brisbane before the chase ended at Murrumba Downs just after 12am.

Tyre deflation devices were used to help bring the vehicle to a stop on Dohles Rocks Road just after midnight.

Two officers “received minor whiplash” when two police vehicles crashed into each other during the operation

No one else was hurt during the chase.

A 34-year-old Boondall man was charged with four counts of stealing and two counts of dangerous driving of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with evasion, obstruct police, driving unregistered and uninsured and receiving tainted property.

He is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on July 1.
