A teenage girl has been charged with dangerous driving causing death after motorcyclist Laurie Monaghan died at the scene of a crash on the New England Highway.

A teenager has been charged following a tragic crash earlier this year that claimed the life of a man who was on the final leg of an interstate motorcycle trip.

Laurie Monaghan, 53, died in a three-vehicle crash occurred on February 25 at the intersection of Opportunity Drive and the New England Highway.
A stationary utility truck was allegedly rear-ended by a station wagon as it attempted to turn on to the highway.
The resulting impact propelled the utility forward towards oncoming traffic, and it struck a motorbike being ridden by Mr Monaghan.
The army veteran, who was travelling north towards his Toowoomba home, died at the scene.
A second man, aged in his 30s, suffered head, back and abdominal injuries.
A 17-year-old girl has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
The girl appeared in the Toowoomba Children’s Court on Thursday and will reappear at a later date.
Mr Monaghan was returning from an interstate motorcycle trip in Tasmania the day he died.
He was just an hour from home.
In a tribute, family told The Courier-Mail Mr Monaghan “died doing what he loved”.
