A young Brisbane property mogul will face court on a drink-driving charge after he allegedly fled the scene of a high-speed four-car pile-up that left several people – including a pregnant woman – injured, brought down powerlines and destroyed his Lamborghini.
Jonathan Fraser Bell, 28, managing director of property management company Housemark and founder of Wingman Group, was allegedly driving his Lamborghini Urus along Kent St in New Farm on Friday night when it crossed on to the opposite side of the road and collided with a Toyota Corolla.
The impact of the crash resulted in two other cars also being hit, a Mazda CX-3 and a Toyota Yaris.
It is understood police are investigating whether the Lamborghini SUV, which sells for more than $400,000, was travelling at speeds of up to 150km/h moments before the crash.
A Queensland Police Service statement said the driver of the luxury car, a 28-year-old Clayfield man, allegedly fled the scene on foot.
Passengers from the Lamborghini had managed to crawl from the wreckage when police and paramedics arrived shortly before 8pm but there was allegedly no sign of the driver, Bell.
It is understood one passenger from the Lamborghini, a young woman, said she’d only met the driver earlier that night.
“The passengers of the Lamborghini, and occupants of the other vehicles, sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital,” the police statement said.
“Following further inquiries, officers located the 28-year-old man at his address, where he was taken into custody.
“He has been issued a Notice to Appear for low-range drink-driving. Further investigations into the crash are ongoing.”
Multiple ambulances were sent to the “major incident” where people from the various vehicles were treated for a range of injuries, including head lacerations, a broken arm and chest and abdominal pain.
A pregnant woman is believed to have been one of those injured from the other three cars.
Bell’s biography on the Housemark website describes him as an entrepreneur who “doesn’t do things by halves”.
“As a promising young tennis player and entrepreneur, Jonathan credits much of his current success to the influence and guidance of his sporting and business mentors who taught him the values of resilience, dedication and strategic thinking,” it says.
“Jonathan doesn’t do things by halves, holding himself and his team to a very high standard. “It was this approach and work ethic that led him to realise and capitalise on a huge gap in the market for quality property management.”
The young real estate businessman also teaches a four-week property management “masterclass” that promises to share the secrets of “Australia’s fastest growing rent-roll”.
“My name is Jonathan Bell and I started my real estate business from my second bedroom just over five years ago,” he says in a YouTube clip spruiking the course.
“I’m personally going to help coach you to be able to give you the growth within your real estate business that I’ve been fortunate enough to have within mine.”
Bell is listed as renting a $1800 a week “architecturally designed masterpiece” in Clayfield that also lists him as the managing agent.
