A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was allegedly set on fire at a property south of Brisbane leaving her with serious burns.

A 36-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident on Saturday morning and was also charged with common assault and other offences.

Police alleged that the man produced a lighter and lit a 34-year-old woman on fire after they were involved in an altercation.

The alleged attack has been condemned as the government confirmed they are reviewing the DVConnect service to address the “scourge” of domestic violence across the state.

Emergency services were called to an address at Kingston Ct, Kingston about 7.44am after reports of a disturbance where a woman, aged in her 30s, was found with burns to her body.

The woman was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

It is understood it is a domestic violence incident.

A crime scene was established and detectives from the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch started investigating.

Premier David Crisafulli said the incident had shaken the state.

“I want Queenslanders to know how much sorrow the state has experienced and how much the state is thinking of the young woman involved,” he said on Sunday.

“To her family, to the neighbours, to the first responders, to every Queenslander - these are the kind of incidents that rock communities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”

Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Minister Amanda Camm supported the Premier’s comments.

“I also want to extend my thoughts and best wishes to the young woman who we understand is still in a serious condition and her condition will evolve in the coming days, but her life will be forever changed,” she said on Sunday.

Ms Camm had on Saturday shared her sympathy for the victim and said the government was reviewing the DVConnect service to address the “scourge” of domestic violence across the state.

“Queensland is confronted by another shocking incident of alleged family violence and our hearts are with the victim, her family and friends,” she said.

“Every Queenslander has the right to feel safe in their own home, but too many have been living in fear behind closed doors for too long.”

Several police cars flanked the home with officers walking in and around the property for most of Saturday.

Police tape was stretched across the home’s front entrance and fence.

Forensic investigators were on scene taking photos around the Kingston CT property, where police took out a box of documents and used 3D cameras.

Investigators also spent hours speaking to neighbours.

As the investigation continued, neighbours timidly stuck their head out of their windows to see what had happened then would retreat back into their home.

Neighbour Valentino Mariner said his family heard noises from the house last night.

“At night time, we heard people arguing and throwing stuff,” he said.

Police established secondary crime scenes at Gould Adams Park on Kingston Road and the Kingston Train Station.

The crime scene had been restricted to parklands across from the station, which had been blocked off by police tape.

Emergency services were called to an address near Jacaranda Ave, Kingston about 7.44am.

“I didn’t know anything until I saw the SES down the road. That’s when I knew it would be something serious,” he said.

“This is the first time I’ve heard that there was a fire.”

The man is expected to front Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

Just before 3pm, SES crews had made their way to the creek in front of the Kingston Butter Factory cultural precinct.

The 10 SES members spread out in a line methodically scouring the creek bed for any signs of evidence likely linked to a suspected domestic violence incident.

One Kingston resident Austin Newnham said he was disturbed to hear that a woman had been set on fire.
