Woman charged with the alleged serious assault of two police officers in Southport Friday afternoon

A woman will appear in court charged with serious assault of police after allegedly threatening two officers with a knife.

A woman has been charged with seriously assaulting two Gold Coast police officers on Friday afternoon.

The officers had been investigating reports of her alleged dangerous driving at Ormeau earlier in the day.

Investigators alleged the woman was driving a white 2010 Mazda 3 southbound along the Pacific Motorway about 8.30am when she collided with a 2015 silver Kia Rio travelling in the same direction. The Rio’s occupants were uninjured.

She allegedly then left the scene and later went to Southport police station she is alleged to have pulled a knife from her waistband in an interview room with two police, brandishing it overhead and threatening the officers, who deployed a taser in response.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A 45-year-old Pacific Pines woman has been charged with two counts each of serious assault of police and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

She was denied police bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday.
