A woman has been charged after she allegedly broke into a Toowoomba home and took a toddler.
Detectives this morning refused the 25-year-old woman’s bail and issued her with multiple charges following the incident that prompted an urgent Amber Alert on Thursday night.
According to police, an 18-month-old boy was taken from his Harrison Court home in Toowoomba’s Darling Heights about midday on Thursday.
An urgent police response was immediately activated, while some hours later, officers issued an Amber Alert and urged the public to assist in locating the youngster.
A description of both the child, woman and the car she had last been seen driving were also provided to the public.
Before the youngster was found about 10 hours after his disappearance, police were concerned he may have been “at significant risk.”
He was, however, located safe and well.
The woman charged over the incident, from Glenvale, is understood to know the boy.
She has been charged with child stealing, enter dwelling with intent, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with certain orders.
The woman will remain behind bars until her matter is heard before a magistrate on Monday, July 19 at Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
