A manhunt is underway after a woman was attacked along a walking trail at Brisbane’s Mt Coot-tha.

The 30-year-old woman was on the Maculata walking track near the Bardon Trail about 12.20pm on Friday when an unknown male assaulted her, a police spokesman said.

“It is understood the woman sustained minor physical injuries,” he said.

The spokesman said at this stage investigators did not believe the incident was linked to an alleged sexual assault along a Mt Coot-tha walking track last month.

Former NRL player Arana Taumata said he was going for a run along the trail on Friday when he came across the woman, who appeared to be “in a daze”.

“She was on the ground just dazed and I was like shit are you all right? I thought she slipped over,” he said in a social media post.

“She was saying ‘no someone pushed me, someone had me on the ground.”

Mr Taumata said it was concerning that there had now been two attacks along the popular tracks.

“The trail I was on... there’s the main trail you run on and I just ended up going to the right

“I think that’s why he’s in that section because not a lot of people run through that section.”

The offender was described as being about 170cm tall, with dark brown hair and was wearing long black pants and a dark long-sleeve top.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.
