Eagleby: Man tasered by police, charged with multiple offences after car ploughs into house, injuring four

Police have tasered a man and deployed dogs after he allegedly assaulted them in the aftermath of a crash in which a car ploughed into a house south of Brisbane, injuring a woman and her two children.

A man has been charged with multiple offences after being tasered and subdued by police dogs during an incident south of Brisbane on Sunday night.

Police allege the man ploughed an SUV into a house on Eagleby Rd, Eagleby, just after 7.10pm, injuring a woman and two children.

Police will allege the driver, a 37-year-old man, became aggressive and assaulted police who responded by deploying a taser and a police dog to apprehend him.

“Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a man, believed to be an occupant from the vehicle, who became aggressive and assaulted police,” a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.

“The man was subject to a taser and police dog deployment.”

Four additional people, three from the vehicle and one from the residence, were taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

The 37-year-old Doolandella man has been charged with four counts of obstruct police officer, and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance (Domestic violence), deprivation of liberty (Domestic violence).

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on October 4.

Police had closed off Eagleby Rd near Schmidt Rd while emergency workers and residents assessed the damage.

Neighbours who rushed to help the residents said the woman and children were lucky to escape serious injury.

A community group was working to get her tarps and care packs for the family in an effort to keep the rain out of the house after the front wall was extensively damaged by the impact.
