Video emerges of youths bashing Asian students outside Inala shopping centre

Shocking footage of three Asian students repeatedly assaulted, with one woman dragged by her hair, at a shopping centre in Brisbane’s south-west has been posted to social media.

Shocking footage has emerged of a gang of youths surrounding and repeatedly assaulting three Asian students, south of Brisbane last week.

The youths were filmed outside a bus station at Inala, in Brisbane’s south-west, dragging a woman on the ground by her hair and swinging multiple times at the woman and her male and female friends.

The footage was captured on June 27 by a person associated with the group of attackers, who was heard encouraging the teenagers, repeatedly shouting ‘gang sh--’.

The video was posted to Reddit on Friday before the thread on the Brisbane related page, /r/brisbane, was locked by moderators, citing racism.

The incident happened outside a shopping centre in Inala, which is part of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s electorate.

The footage shows a male friend of the victim attempting to intervene, pushing away the group of youths before he too is assaulted.

“We didn’t do anything to you,” the male victim yells, as the group walks away smiling and laughing.

Police responded to the incident at a bus stop outside the Inala Civic Centre about 6.45pm June 27.

Queensland Police Service have acquired the CCTV footage and are currently making inquiries with seven juveniles following the incident.

No victim statement has been made and no charges have been laid as of Saturday July 3.
