Tyre spikes deployed; Police arrest five juveniles after Gold Coast break and enter

Four boys and a girl aged between 13 and 17 have been charged after police were forced to use tyre spikes after allegedly stolen vehicles were discovered after police were called to a break-in on the Gold Coast.

Police have used tyre spikes to catch five youths that they say were driving stolen cars after they were interrupted during a break and enter on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Officers were initially notified about an unfolding break and enter at a residence on Bonogin Rd, Bonogin around 1.30pm.

When they arrived, police discovered two stolen cars - a blue BMW, stolen from Pacific Pines and a black Jeep from Emerald Lakes - which fled the scene.

Police tracked the vehicles and deployed tyre spikes on Bonogin Rd, successfully puncturing one of the Jeep’s tyres, while the BMW continued to evade police.

The Jeep drove from Mudgereeba, onto the Pacific Motorway and north to Coomera, where it exited at exit 54.

Police were close behind and arrested four teenage boys, aged 13, 14, 16 and 17, and one girl aged 14. The BMW remains outstanding.

The juveniles have been charged with a number of property offences, including burglary unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

Police say that the blue BMW was last tracked heading north towards Brisbane and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
