Two men charged over alleged Aspley armed robbery

Two men have been charged following an armed robbery in north Brisbane earlier this month during which they’re alleged to have threatened a staff member at gunpoint.

Two men have been charged following an armed robbery in north Brisbane earlier this month in which they’re alleged to have threatened a staff member at gunpoint.

Yesterday, detectives in the Operation Uniform Mallow arrested Charles Anthony Chambers, 38, in Stafford while he was out walking his dog before executing a search warrant at his address in Kitchener Rd, Stafford.

The second man, Karl Michael Morrison, 40, from Petrie, was taken into custody at a Lawnton address.

Police will allege that on Sunday, October 9 at 5am, the two men forced entry into the back of an Aspley business, armed with firearms.

It will be alleged the men demanded the woman behind the counter hand over cash before they forced her at gunpoint to open the safe.

She complied with the men and wasn’t physically injured.

They then allegedly fled the scene with the money in a stolen Lexus wagon.

The 38-year-old man was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of armed robbery in company, attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence and deprivation of liberty.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count each of armed robbery in company, attempted enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence, deprivation of liberty, possess tainted property and possess dangerous drugs.

Their matters were mentioned briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

There were no applications for bail and the matters were adjourned.
