The man accused of murdering 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley will be extradited to face charges in Queensland after he filed an official consent statement before a New Delhi Court seeking to return to Australia.

Rajwinder Singh was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Ms Anamika to record the statement on Tuesday evening Queensland time, three days after another magistrate Jude Swati Sharma accepted his consent application to return to Australia.

Singh signed the official application which read: “I know the consequences and nature of the case and am willing to go to Australia and face the trial”.

The judge said: “FC (Fugitive Criminal) is willing to be extradited to the government of Australia at the earliest”.

Singh fled to India in 2018 and remained on the run for four years. He was arrested on November 25 last year during a joint operation by Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Central Bureau of Investigations, and Interpol, while on his way to a doctor’s appointment in New Delhi.

Local media quoting Delhi Police sources had earlier reported that Singh allegedly killed Toyah after her dog barked at him resulting in the ‘violent altercation’.

However on January 7, while talking exclusively with The Courier-Mail, Singh claimed he was not the killer but an eye witness to a murder.

“I will reveal every detail before the court in Australia,” he said at the time. `

It was expected the court would recommend the extradition of Singh to the Government of India at another hearing later this week, but it has been adjourned until January 20, with a final decision then expected to be made.
