Police are investigating following reports that a woman was attacked by a man with a knife as she walked her dog through a Brisbane park.

Police and paramedics were called to the Minnippi Parklands in Tingalpa shortly before 10am after a distressed woman reported being slashed by a man with a knife.

The woman was found to have suffered superficial cuts to her arms and legs.

Police rushed to the scene but were unable to locate an attacker.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to the Mater Hospital by the Queensland Ambulance Service in a stable condition.

A police spokeswoman said investigations were continuing.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, police are continuing to hunt for a man who threw a Thermos of boiling hot coffee on a baby boy in another Brisbane park in a horrific random attack.

Nine-month-old Luka was with his mother at Hanlon Park at Stones Corner on August 27 when the man approached and doused him with the scalding liquid before fleeing.

Luka remains in hospital where this week he underwent a third round of surgery after suffering severe burns.

A GoFundMe to help with his medical costs had raised $115,000 in six days.

Police released CCTV images of the man, who was described as 30 to 40 years old, of proportionate build with tanned skin.

He was wearing a black hat, glasses, a shirt and shorts at the time.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Mark Kelly told media on Monday that a large team of police were working to find the man.

“We have many police working on this. We have 23 detectives, including specialists from our crime intelligence group. We also have another six intelligence experts looking at this case,” he said.

“We are determined to solve this case, and if anyone has any information, can they please contact their local police.

“I can assure we are putting every possible resource to it.”

Luka’s mother said in a post she hoped doctors would have more information on the next steps following his third operation.

“Luka has been incredibly resilient,” she wrote.

“He’s up and about, walking and causing chaos. He is such a strong little boy and we are so, so proud of him.

“This horrific event should have never happened. Hopefully one day justice will be served.”
