Three people have died and another remains critical following a series of crashes on Queensland roads on Sunday.

A 22-year-old Pialba woman and a 45-year-old Nobby man died in a head-on crash on the Warrego Highway on Sunday morning.

According to police, a Holden Astra and a Kenworth semi-trailer collided near Oakleigh Park Rd in Bowenville, near Dalby west of Toowoomba, about 8.30am.

The collision caused the truck to leave the road before crashing into a pole.

Police say they were the only two people inside the vehicles at the time of the incident.

The Warrego Highway was temporarily closed in both directions at Norwin Rd and power lines were down for a short time.

In a separate incident on Sunday morning, a 78-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing on the Bruce Highway near Townsville.

Police say the rider from Kelso was travelling southbound at Mutarnee when he veered off the road and crashed just before 11am.

He also died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Kenmore man is in a critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Brisbane’s southeast on Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at the intersection of Mount Gravatt-Capalaba and Tilley roads, Burbank, just after 4pm.

Paramedics, including critical care and the High Acuity Response Unit, attended.

The man was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital along with two other patients, a 71-year-old man and his 67-year-old female passenger from Parkinson, who were in a stable condition with leg and chest pain.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed or have dashcam footage of any of the three incidents, to contact them.
