Thieving rampage: Group use angle grinder in stealing spree hitting eight business

Police have released terrifying footage of a group of people using an angle grinder to break into eight Brisbane businesses in just two hours.

A group of angle grinder wielding thieves have been caught on camera while on a late night stealing spree south of Brisbane.

Police said a group of unknown people attempted to break into eight businesses between 1.15am and 3.15am Wednesday, but only successfully stole from three.

They first attempted to force entry into a convenience store on Denham Terrace in Tarragindi with an angle grinder.

They left after being unsuccessful but left the shopfront damaged.

Police said the same group smashed the glass door to a service station on Evans Road, Salisbury about 1.30am, but they fled empty-handed when the alarm was activated.

A police statement said the group was driving in a grey sport utility vehicle.

About 20 minutes later, the same people forced entry into a service station on Annerley Road, Dutton Park.

They attempted unsuccessfully to use the angle grinder to access and steal cigarettes before again fleeing empty-handed, police said.

At 2.10am, the thieves forced entry into a business on Blunder Road at Oxley and stole a cash register.

Their next stop was a business on Parkwood Drive in Heathwood about 2.40am, where they smashed the front glass door before fleeing with a cash register and other property.

Police said the same group then unsuccessfully attempted to gain access to two businesses about 2.45am on Joseph Banks Ave, Forest Lake.

Continuing their spree, the offenders gained access to a service station on Learoyd Road, Acacia Ridge just after 3am, but again left empty-handed.

A grocery store on Kameruka Street in Calamvale was the last business hit by the group and was broken into about 3.15am with the offenders stealing cash and cigarettes.

Queensland Police detectives from the Centenary Crime Team believe all eight instances are linked and have released security camera footage showing six of them.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision that may be of interest is asked to contact police.
