One charged as teen fights for life after alleged Valley stabbing in broad daylight

Police have charged a teenager in relation to the alleged stabbing in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Monday that has left one teenage girl fighting for life.

Police have charged a teenager in relation to the alleged stabbing in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Monday that has left one teenage girl fighting for life.

It is understood multiple teenagers were involved in an altercation at Fortitude Valley train station about 1.45pm on Monday.

A police spokesperson said it was believed all were known to each other and were all teenagers.

“Three girls were involved. Investigations are ongoing and looking for the people involved,” a spokesperson said.

An ambulance spokeswoman the girl was in her late teens and was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was declared outside the Centre to Counter Child Exploitation on Alfred St, with police tape surrounding the front of the building.

A forensic police officer could be seen climbing into a stormwater drain and collecting samples.

A nearby business owner’s CCTV captured the group walking past earlier.

“They looked like they came from school, they didn’t look nervous, they were heading in the same direction,” he said.

“They are walking pretty casually, they weren’t running to me, if they walked past me I wouldn’t think they were up to anything – heading back towards the train station.

“Just around the corner after dark on the weekend it’s pretty bad; it’s not a bad place during the day, this street is good.”

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with one count of wounding, and is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
