Three Gold Coast border closure protesters have been thrown into hotel quarantine and one fined more than $4000 as riot officers prepare to quell another protest at Coolangatta-Tweed Heads this weekend.
Riot police and mounted officers have been sent to Tweed Heads from Sydney ahead of the possible protest on Sunday.
It comes after protesters clashed with police on the border last weekend, with 10 people arrested and dozens of fines issued.
Those fined included Hollywood movie stuntman Michael Corrigan, who was hit with more than $7000 in infringement notices after galloping across the border on a white horse.
Police said they had also now identified three others involved in the protest.
A Palm Beach woman, 45, was fined $4135 and a Burleigh Heads man, 64, was given a formal caution and both were placed into hotel quarantine after police used CCTV and mobile phone footage to track them down.
A Nerang man, 69, was charged by NSW place and also placed into quarantine.
Queensland Police said they were ready for more protests this weekend and warned anyone taking part they faced tough penalties.
“Police are aware of possible protest activity at the Gold Coast border this weekend,” a spokesman said.
“Whilst the QPS recognises and supports the right to peaceful assembly and protest, those who attend are reminded of restrictions and requirements associated with the CHO Directions.
“Police will take action against any deliberate breach of the CHO Directions with all police action intended to keep our community safe from the further spread of COVID-19.
“Additional officers will continue to conduct high visibility patrols around Coolangatta focusing on the Queensland and New South Wales border areas.
“Those who attend are reminded of restrictions and requirements associated with COVID-19, which include not crossing the state line border unless you have a current and valid exemption.
“Those taking part in protest action who deliberately and recklessly ignore the CHO Directions could face fines up to $4,135 for failing to comply.”
