A doctor working for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service has been suspended by the health watchdog, meaning he is banned from practising until it is lifted.
Petru-Emanuel Dascalita, who has previously had the green light to work with supervision at ten hospitals and medical facilities across the Sunshine Coast region, was hit with the suspension on June 28.
According to the announcement posted on the state’s Office of the Health Ombudsman website, it took “immediate registration action” against Dr Dascalita.
The Office of the Health Ombudsman did not provide the reason for the decision.
The decision will continue to have effect until the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision or the health ombudsman revokes the suspension, the announcement states.
According to the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency website, Dr Dascalita was previously subject to supervision by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service principal health officer in mental health.
He was previously approved to work at Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya, Nambour General Hospital, Caloundra Hospital, Maleny Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Gympie Hospital, Noosa Private Hospital, Community Hub in Maroochydore, Rehabilitation Services in Mountain Creek, Mental Health Services in Gympie and Mental Health Services in Nambour.
His previous principal place of practice was at Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya and he was completing postgraduate training or supervised practice, the AHPRA website states.
He graduated with a doctorate in medicine from Grigore T. Popa University in Romania in 2016, the AHPRA website states.
