Stolen tools could be key to fatal Pacific Haven shed fire mystery

Tools taken from the site a fatal shed fire at Pacific Haven more than a year ago could hold the key to solving the death of 50-year-old Damian Ramsey, whose body was found at the scene.

Investigations are continuing into a fatal shed fire at Pacific Haven in 2022, and the theft of a quantity of tools from the site.

About 1.35am on February 18, 2022 emergency services attended a fire in a small “donga” style structure at Pacific Haven Drive, north west of Hervey Bay.

The residence was completed destroyed in the blaze.

A subsequent search located the body of the 50-year-old man who lived there, Damian Ramsay.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mr Ramsay’s death have revealed that a quantity of power tools were stolen from a shed situated about 60m from the residence between 2pm on February 17 and 1.35am on February 18.

Police now believe these tools were sold to unsuspecting people in the Wide Bay area around that time.

Anyone who bought second-hand power tools around Howard/Pacific Haven in early 2022 is urged to contact police immediately.

Police continue to appeal to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
