An 83-year-old man has been charged over multiple sexual assaults, including rape, of women in public parks.

An 83-year-old man is facing a number of serious charges including rape following a number of alleged incidents in public parks earlier this year.

Detectives from Ipswich and Acacia Ridge have charged the 83-year-old Springfield Lakes man in relation to multiple alleged sexual assault incidents that occurred between September and October 2023 in the Acacia Ridge and Springfield areas.

It will be alleged that the male approached multiple women in public parks before assaulting them.

The 83-year-old has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of rape.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on November 18.

Police appeal for anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward.
