Slain mum Wendy Sleeman kept detailed dossier of alleged threats on her life

Chilling new details have emerged about the death of Gold Coast mum Wendy Sleeman, with a court hearing of her detailed dossier of her estranged son’s alleged threats to kill her including audio recordings.

A Gold Coast teacher abducted and later found dead in a Brisbane garage had compiled a detailed dossier of her son’s alleged threats to kill her, including chilling audio recordings, a Court has been told.

The body of Wendy Sleeman, 61, was found in the boot of her blue Honda Jazz in a Windsor garage on Thursday night – two days after she was allegedly beaten unconscious and dragged to the car, leaving a grisly trail of blood across the floor of her Elanora home.

Ms Sleeman’s estranged son, 30-year-old Slade Murdok, has been arrested and remains in the Brisbane Watchhouse after being denied bail on charges including unlawful stalking, burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm, kidnapping, attempted arson, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Murdok has denied any involvement in his mother’s disappearance, but in compiling a detailed objection to bail, police discovered an electronic diary they believe belonged to Ms Sleeman, which catalogued a series of alarming threats of her son allegedly vowing to kill her.

The digital diary included audio recordings of threats stretching back several years.

According to the messages, detailed in the bail objection documents presented to the court, Ms Sleeman was also so fearful she would be killed by her son, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder, that she gave relatives passwords for her phone, computer and bank accounts in the event of her untimely death.

The police objections and allegations were presented in documents to Deputy Magistrate Anthony Gett who refused bail during a hearing on Thursday.

“It seems the victim had concerns for her own safety and had a belief that the defendant may attempt to kill her … as recent as the 23rd of January,” he told the court.

He cited concerns of a risk of further offending and the unknown whereabouts of Murdok’s mother.

Just hours later her body was found in the boot of the Jazz at an apartment complex garage which police will allege Murdok had privately rented from the owner.

There is no suggestion the owner of the garage had any involvement in the tragedy, with police saying she was “shocked” to learn of the distressing events.

Murdok, who suffered a broken leg during his dramatic arrest at the hands of elite Special Emergency Response Team officers on Tuesday, has not been charged with his mother’s murder as police await the results of Ms Sleeman’s autopsy.

It is understood she suffered significant trauma injuries.

Ms Sleeman made a complaint to police on Tuesday after it was alleged that a man matching Murdok’s description was spotted lurking near her workplace at the Surfers Paradise State School at the Isle of Capri.

Hours later, she alerted police to a break-in at her home but by the time officers arrived, a blue Honda Jazz was allegedly seen speeding away from the scene.

She was nowhere to be found, with large volumes of blood leaving officers fearing the worst.

Detective Superintendent Brendan Smith from the South Eastern Region said police were still trying to work out exactly what transpired between the Honda Jazz speeding off from Ms Sleeman’s Elanora home on Tuesday afternoon and Murdok’s arrest at a Durack home the following night.

“We’re still seeking public assistance about his movements,” he said.

“We’re still keen to hear from anyone who saw the blue Honda Jazz between Elanora and Windsor on Tuesday afternoon.”

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been created to build a memorial bench and plaque in honour of Ms Sleeman.

The creator of the GoFundMe, Joseph Adams, said Ms Sleeman was a loved teacher, mother, friend and neighbour.

“As a humble neighbour and friend, I am asking the community to rally around Wendy, and donate as we have a memorial bench and plaque created in Wendy’s honour at a the beautiful Tallebudgera off leash dog Park here on the gold coast,” he said.

“Proceeds will go toward the memorial being built in Wendy’s honour as well as a small donation portion will be made to the family to assist Wendy’s beloved dogs.”

The Hillview Apartments complex at Windsor has been swarming with police and forensic officers as detectives continue the harrowing task of determining exactly how, when and where Ms Sleeman died.
