An ice-cream truck owner has been charged with sexual assault offences after he allegedly inappropriately touched young girls in Redcliffe.
Stephen Hammond Jensen, 69, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, and one count each of common assault and indecent treatment of a child under 16.
He is listed as the owner of Big Lick Ice Cream - a large, purple ice-cream van which travelled around Brisbane’s northside.
Police will allege the 69-year-old man inappropriately touched two girls and a woman in separate incidents between January, 2024 and April this year in Redcliffe, Newport and Griffin areas.
Police will allege Jensen knew two of the alleged victims.
Detectives searched a home at Brendale and the ice cream truck owned by Jensen on Friday where they seized electronic devices for forensic examination.
Jensen has owned the ice cream business since January, 2020
Posts from the business social media page show it sold ice cream in Redcliffe, North Lakes, Deception Bay and Griffin, including at the Redcliffe Markets.
The last social media post was in April, which read: “Big Lick is around Rothwell & Zammit oval today so look out for the big purple truck and his music today hope to see you”.
Jensen faced Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Friday where he was granted bail.
Redcliffe Child Protection Investigation Unit officer-in-charge Detective Senior Sergeant Guy Ford said investigations are ongoing.
“We will allege the man knew two of the three victims,” Sergeant Ford said.
“We encourage you to contact police if you have information.
“We are always thankful for people who are brave enough to share their story with us so we can investigate and work towards justice for that person.”
The matter was adjourned for mention on July 23 at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.
